"Lessons from a Hustler" on Granta by Peter Mountford

I thoroughly enjoyed this essay by Peter Mountford, author of A Young Man's Guide to Late Capitalism, in which he discusses his time bartending at a pool hall in DC during the year before it closed, getting to know the many characters who played and drank within its walls, including one hustler in particular.  Mountford also briefly describes the two years he lived in Ecuador writing about economics, a time that no doubt led to his first novel, a good read.  Here's a link to the essay:
