The Silver Linings Playbook: Movie vs. Book

Shortly after I posted this short essay here on miscellany, it was picked up by PhillySportsCentral.com, an excellent site for all of your latest Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, and Sixers news. You can check it out at the following link:

  1. Watched the flick this weekend and really enjoyed it, though I have not read the novel. Until you pointed it out, I didn't realize how curious the choice was for the impetus of the fight. And I think the betting the farm on the game and dance competition was certainly formula -- something must be on the line that every moviegoer can understand, I suppose. Despite the gimmicks, the richness of the story was delivered. Makes me want to go back and watch Punch Drunk Love again for some reason...a truly great film from a director that rarely introduces too much formula.
